Starz makes the right call

Today Starz announced that the upcoming third ( actually 4th) season of Spartacus: War of the Damned (seasons title) will conclude the shows run. I'm a fan of the show but feel this is the right move. Everyone involved with the show deserves a lot of credit for dealing with the difficult circumstances that they've encountered during production. I thought it was a great thing that the production crew did retooling their outline for the show and doing a prequel season to try and allow Andy Whitfield the chance to win his battle with cancer. Sadly Andy passed away and the show eventually recast the role and rolled out a decent if not great 2nd (3rd) season in Spartacus: Vengeance. Andy lit the screen up with charisma and played his Spartacus with a determined fire that scorched viewers at home, losing him was losing the power source that fueled the whole show and his absence was felt last year. The story of Spartacus is a fascinating one and now it can really go out on a bang in these last 10 episodes that have the source material to be something special.
